Connecting with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
A world of peace, prosperity, and equality represents the ultimate goal of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The plan serves as a 17-point blueprint to achieve a sustainable future for everyone. As an organization helping women become trail blazers within their own communities, WCI recognizes the important role the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) can have in achieving gender equity, and we commit to upholding these values and actions.
WCI Supports UN SDGs
At WCI, we have remained unwavering in our commitment to adapting to the ever – evolving needs of women and girls since our 1998 participation in the Beijing Conference.
We focus on better outcomes for women and girls, and ultimately everyone in their communities through the long-lasting impact of women’s engagement in public advocacy, market, and political processes. Thus, our work is intrinsical to the United Nations 2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but we also challenge these goals as our path forward for a measurable trajectory of outcomes that will live out the promise of an equitable world for us all and does not leave women and girls behind. It is time.
All of the 17 SDGs are essential to building sustainable development, and WCI anchors its work on the belief that gender equality is at the center of ecosystems. We grow ecosystems to
achieve better, more effective SDG results, focusing on cross-sector partnerships in a changing world.
Achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls is the fifth goal of the UN’s SDG, and it runs parallel to WCI’s mission. Opportunities for transformation are boundless when women are provided the resources to step into their personal power.
To achieve the SDGs by 2030, our world requires intentional leadership and connecting with both new and old models for collective action. WCI’s role in advancing the SDGs positions women at the core of sustainable development as leaders of our new tomorrow.
