Founder & President

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a CBS News Foundation Fellow at Columbia University, Marjorie began her career as a television journalist at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia. As a journalist with NBC and its owned and operated stations, and a contributing correspondent to the Today Show, Sunday Today, A Closer Look, CNBC, and Real Life with Jane Pauley, Marjorie’s reporting won numerous awards including five Emmys.

In 1992, Marjorie was the first woman ever elected to Congress from Pennsylvania in her own right. During her term in the House, Marjorie was appointed to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, the Committee on Small Business, the Committee on Government Operations.

In addition to her work with WCI, Marjorie taught at the University of Pennsylvania for twenty years. She has worked as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow and a Senior Fellow at the Annenberg Public Policy Center, and received a Presidential Appointment to the VEF Foundation. In 2016, she was appointed by President Obama to serve on the Presidential Commission for the Preservation of American Heritage Abroad.

Edith Hunt has spent virtually all of her 32 year career at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York. During the first half of her career she held a variety of positions from commodities trader to business unit manager to Chief Administrative Officer of the Fixed Income Division. She spent the second half of her career dealing with critical people issues of the firm, and rose to the level of Partner, serving as Chief Operating Officer of the Human Capital Management Division. In this capacity she had global responsibility for all of the recruiting, training and diversity initiatives of the firm. This role took her to dozens of countries where Goldman Sachs has offices and she has interacted with people from dozens of backgrounds across the globe.

In addition to having overall management responsibility for global training at the firm, she is an experienced hands-on presenter and trainer. She has trained audiences ranging from middle school, high school, university and graduate degree students to every level of investment banking employees from entry level to senior managers, and has trained financial services clients from across the globe. She has trained in locations ranging from inner city environments to elite corporate retreats and in locations as diverse as Manhattan, Salt Lake City, London, Bangalore, Beijing and Amman.Training topics include financial literacy, business ethics, self-empowerment and self-advocacy, presentation and communication skills, interview training (both for interviewers and interviewees), goal setting and performance management, having difficult conversations, motivating staff in tough times, networking, mentorship and sponsorship, the importance of building a culture in organizations and all aspects of diversity.

Ms. Hunt has an extensive portfolio of non-profit work. She is a founding member of the board of New Jersey Needs You, a mentoring and skills training program for first generation college students from New Jersey. She is on the board of Forte Foundation, having previously served as Chair of the Board. Forte is a consortium of major corporations and business schools which encourages women to pursue business careers and graduate studies in business. She is a founding member of the board of the Jersey City Fund.

Ceci is a trauma-informed expert who joined the WCI team as Senior Advisor, Special Projects in 2019, weaving both her academic scholarship and personal experiences into program development and management. In her role as Senior Advisor, Special Projects, Ceci is responsible for spearheading WCI’s organizational growth, including opportunities for the expansion of international and domestic programs through a trauma-informed lens. Ceci is also the Founder and CEO of TraumaVenture, a Trauma-Informed Management Consulting firm based in Philadelphia providing subject matter expertise on the role of trauma in civil society – individuals, organizations and communities.

Ceci is also the Executive Director of the Military Assistance Project, and has served as the CEO for Dress for Success Worldwide, the Executive Director of Voices without Borders, Inc., and spearheaded the change management of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Whether working with Catholic nuns and women religious in sub-Saharan Africa or social impact organizations here at home, Ceci uniquely bridges her international experience into the strategic alignment and direction of local organizations through her profound commitment to public interest law and the social impact sector. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her commitment to community development, and has served on local, national and international boards. Most recently, she received the 2016 VERA MOMENTUM Award based on her work with start-ups in El Salvador through Business Council for Peace (BPeace). Ceci also has served as Delegate to the UN Commission on the Status of Women and Hong Kong’s Social Enterprise Summit.

Ceci studied Political Science at Villanova University, where her undergraduate thesis focused on the impact of globalization in international non-governmental organizations and the role of the Internet in human rights. As a graduate student focusing on Holocaust and Genocide Studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Ceci was moved by the architectural use of space memorializing memory after a visit to the Garden of Exile at the Jewish Museum in Berlin. The thesis for her master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania was on the Role of Storytelling in Social Value Creation. Ceci’s doctoral dissertation at the University of Pennsylvania looked into Situating Traumatic Memory in Social Value Creation. While in graduate school, Ceci served as planning committee member for the 2013 Wharton Social Impact Conference. She serves as Guest Lecturer and Start-Up Judge at the St. Joseph’s University Haub School of Business Veterans Jumpstart Program.

Brynn joined the WCI team in 2017. In her role as Executive Manager, Brynn has been responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the organization, designing WCI's upcoming programs, and managing communications and social media. Additionally, she is the Program Director for WCI's Girls Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS) - a program that empowers teenage girls in Philadelphia with the skills and confidence to be leaders in their communities. As an awardee of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Brynn traveled to Kenya to conduct GALS internationally in 2018. On the side, Brynn is also a Delegate of the Vision 2020 National Initiative for Gender Equality, a Youth Advisor for International Connector, and a part-time track and field coach at Bryn Mawr College. Before joining WCI, Brynn worked at an English-immersion summer program at Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey, where she worked to improve children’s spoken English and designed and taught courses in the arts. Brynn graduated from Roanoke College with a B.A. in International Relations and a concentration in Peace and Justice Studies, where her thesis focused on designing an income-generating renewable energy policy for Turkey.

Amanda first joined the WCI team as a Non-Profit Management and Fundraising Intern before starting the Executive Assistant position in February 2019. Her responsibilities at WCI include assisting the President with communication and outreach, and organizing and maintaining records. As a Global Studies and Strategic Communication double major at Temple University, she is passionate about global advocacy for women. She is a Springfield, Missouri, native who loves both her home state and the hustle and bustle of Philadelphia. In June 2018 she founded a non-profit called Missouri M.A.D.E.: Molding A Diverse Electorate, to inspire and empower more women to run for public office in Missouri. She also interned for a U.S. Senator and was a 2018 Mount Vernon Leadership Fellow. When she isn't studying, working at WCI, or preparing her future run for office, she's likely eating at a new restaurant in Philly or planning her next visit to a new country.

Justina first joined the WCI team as a Non-Profit Management Intern in 2017. In 2019 she returned as a Program Assistant for the Girls Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS). In her role as GALS Program Assistant, Justina helped successfully coordinate the program by providing assistance to the Director, facilitating a workshop on diversity, and serving as an advocacy coach to a group of participants. Justina also helps secure food donations, collect program data, and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the program. Justina is currently assisting WCI by monitoring and evaluating our GALS programs both in Kenya and Philadelphia. While majoring in Urban studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Justina interned at various organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union, the Philadelphia Film Office, and Convenant house. Her most memorable internships are with United Helping Hands where she lived in an orphanage in Phutung, Nepal teaching life skills and English to the children. She is passionate about addressing a wide range of issues such as gender, class and racial inequality and the broken criminal justice system. Her motivation for addressing these issues comes from her first-hand experiences growing up in North Philadelphia. Outside of her professional life, Justina is a guardian to her younger brother, an eyelash extension technician, a belly dancer, and a painter!

Hailey joined the WCI team in February 2019. In her role as Marketing Assistant, Hailey designs digital media content and marketing materials, creates website content and manages social media and WCI's brand identity. Hailey graduated from Saint Joseph's University with a B.A. in Communication Studies and minors in Sociology, English, Gender Studies, and Psychology. She is now focused on the convergence of media, storytelling, and social justice. While at SJU she was co-president of Pride, the LGBTQ+ organization on campus, and co-founder of the SJU Fair Trade Initiative, where she traveled to Nicaragua and Ecuador. On the side, Hailey works for BPM Fitness as an Administration Coordinator and has a woodworking company, HCM Designs.
