Forum on Liberia’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report Today in Philadelphia

This afternoon at 5 pm, the University of Pennsylvania Law School will host a forum to discuss the civil society response to the recently released report and recommendations of the Liberia Trurth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). The forum is being sponsored by the International Human Rights Advocates student-group at the University of Pennsylvania Law School in the Levy Conference Center at 3443 Sansom Street from 5 pm- 6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the general public.

WCI Supports Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year’s theme is “Preventing Sexual Violence in Our Workplaces.” There are 12,000 reports of sexual harassment on the job each year in the US and almost 50% of rape victims lose their jobs or are forced to quit.

Philadelphia Showing of Women In War Zones: Sexual Violence in the Congo

Come see Made Known’s documentary, Women In War Zones: Sexual Violence in the Congo, at WCI’s home: Philadelphia’s International House. The screening will take place on Monday, March 30th at 9:15pm in the Ibrahim Theater.

“Women Are Heroes” Campaign

JR, an ex-graffiti artist, is collaborating with Doctors Without Borders to document the experience of women around the world. The project, Women Are Heroes, has featured women in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Brazil.

Women’s Campaign International’s Trainings in the City of Women, Colombia

Through its partnership with the League of Internally Displaced Women and Congreso Visible, WCI has implemented a training series for displaced women in Colombia’s famed “City of Women.”
